Oppo launches R7 and R7 Plus Chinese manufacturer Oppo has today launched its new duo of flagship phones, the R7 and R7 Plus . The R7 features a 5-inch 1080p screen while its 6-inch screen with the same resolution places the Plus model firmly into phablet territory. However, screen size is far from the only difference between the two models. In the camera department both smartphones combine a 13MP sensor with an F2.2 lens but the R7 Plus chip is, like the  Huawei P8 , of the RGBW variant and supported by laser-AF and a dual-LED flash. The R7 comes with a conventional sensor and has to make do without the laser and with a single-LED flash unit. Oppo claims compared to conventional sensors the RGBW chip in the R7 Plus reduces image noise by 78% and is 32% more light sensitive.  The two models also differ in battery size. Panasonic Lumix G7 Mirrorless Camera With 4K Video Support  It appears to be raining mirrorless cameras. Soon after Fujifilm announced its Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera on Monday, Panasonic followed suit. The company has gone ahead and launched Panasonic Lumix G7. The camera will be available in mid-June in the US and $800 (approximately Rs. 51,000) will get you a basic kit with 14-42mm/F3.5-F5.6 lens. For $1,100 (approximately Rs. 70,000) you can get an all-black variant of the camera with a 14-140mm/F4.0-F5.8 lens. The Lumix G7 has a 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor and uses a Venus Engine chip with a quad-core CPU for image processing. This chip is also present on the more expensive Panasonic Lumix G4. CreoPop 3D pen The CreoPop is a 3D pen, like the   3Doodler   you may have seen before. It does the same thing. But, technically, it’s a very different device. The 3Doodler uses heat to melt its building material, like a 3D printer. As it cools, it hardens. The second version of the 3Doodler is due out in June, for $100. The CreoPop (photo above), which won’t be available for a few months, uses visible light to harden a highly proprietary gel “ink” that it extrudes. That means two things: First, you can draw in the palm of your hand (if you can hold still). I drew a little 3D sketch on top of my thumbnail. As I slowly moved the pen through space, the strand of material first adhered to my thumbnail, then hardened as I moved the pen. Apple is set to update its Maps app with public transit directions in the new version of iOS 9, which is expected to be announced at its WWDC event in early June.  Apple Maps had a rocky start when it completely replaced Google Maps in iOS 6 back in 2012. It was so bad that Tim Cook  posted an apology  on the Apple website because it was giving people the wrong directions, which sometimes ended in dangerous situations.  Since then, Apple Maps has improved to be as trustworthy as Google Maps, but still lacking public transit directions. That has given city-slicking iPhone owners little reason to use Apple Maps for the last three years. New leaks reveal Gionee Elife S8’s 23MP camera could produce 100MP images Gionee recently unveiled its new flagship Elife E7 smartphone in India after launching it at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. While the company associated with manufacturing slim phones has not gone public with its plans ahead in the smartphone segment, new leaks show a purported Elife E8 device which could potentially be a successor to the E7 but boast of more powerful features. According to the latest images spotted on GizmoChina, the Elife E8 sports a metal frame and has physical buttons on the right. The volume rocker is located above the power/lock button and a physical camera shutter button sits right below them.
