Oppo launches R7 and R7 Plus Chinese manufacturer Oppo has today launched its new duo of flagship phones, the R7 and R7 Plus . The R7 features a 5-inch 1080p screen while its 6-inch screen with the same resolution places the Plus model firmly into phablet territory. However, screen size is far from the only difference between the two models. In the camera department both smartphones combine a 13MP sensor with an F2.2 lens but the R7 Plus chip is, like the  Huawei P8 , of the RGBW variant and supported by laser-AF and a dual-LED flash. The R7 comes with a conventional sensor and has to make do without the laser and with a single-LED flash unit. Oppo claims compared to conventional sensors the RGBW chip in the R7 Plus reduces image noise by 78% and is 32% more light sensitive.  The two models also differ in battery size. Panasonic Lumix G7 Mirrorless Camera With 4K Video Support  It appears to be raining mirrorless cameras. Soon after Fujifilm announced its Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera on Monday, Panasonic followed suit. The company has gone ahead and launched Panasonic Lumix G7. The camera will be available in mid-June in the US and $800 (approximately Rs. 51,000) will get you a basic kit with 14-42mm/F3.5-F5.6 lens. For $1,100 (approximately Rs. 70,000) you can get an all-black variant of the camera with a 14-140mm/F4.0-F5.8 lens. The Lumix G7 has a 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor and uses a Venus Engine chip with a quad-core CPU for image processing. This chip is also present on the more expensive Panasonic Lumix G4. Panasonic HC-WX970 , HC-VX870 4K UHD Camcorders Launched in India This year, manufacturers seem to be scramming to add 4K video recording capabilities to their new camcorders. Announced at CES in January for the first time, Panasonic India on Tuesday launched two camcorders with 4K Ultra HD video recording capability - HC-WX970 and HC-VX870. The cameras are available at Rs. 84,990 and Rs. 74,990 respectively. The HC-WX970 and the HC-VX870 are carbon copies of each other except for one hardware addition on the flagship HC-WX970 variant; it has an integrated camera attached to the flip screen which can be used to capture picture-in-picture videos/images using Twin Camera modes. Apple has acquired a company focused on hyper-accurate GPS to improve Apple Maps (Apple)  Apple Maps.  Apple has acquired Coherent Navigation, a company focused on hyper-accurate GPS, in an effort to improve its mapping capabilities,MacRumors reports.   Coherent Navigation's High Integrity GPS system is supposedly so granular that it can provide accurate location information to within a few centimeters. It's  no secret  that Apple Maps has long struggled with providing accurate location information since phasing out Google Maps in 2012. Apple is set to update its Maps app with public transit directions in the new version of iOS 9, which is expected to be announced at its WWDC event in early June.  Apple Maps had a rocky start when it completely replaced Google Maps in iOS 6 back in 2012. New leaks reveal Gionee Elife S8’s 23MP camera could produce 100MP images Gionee recently unveiled its new flagship Elife E7 smartphone in India after launching it at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. While the company associated with manufacturing slim phones has not gone public with its plans ahead in the smartphone segment, new leaks show a purported Elife E8 device which could potentially be a successor to the E7 but boast of more powerful features.
